Warranty Worries Solved by Baxi Boilers

The message was pushed home recently by the Managing Director of Baxi, one of the leading providers of boilers and hot water/heating systems in the UK, as the company extended the warranty on its popular EcoBlue+Combi boiler from 5 to 7 years.

For boiler warranties to be valid, a number of conditions must be met. These include (but are not limited to):

  • Ensuring that the original installer is registered with Gas Safe

  • Registering the new boiler within 30 days of its installation

  • Ensuring that the installer fully completes the Benchmark checklist

  • Arranging for the annual inspection and servicing of the boiler by a Gas Safe registered engineer

Paul Hardy, the Managing Director of Baxi, warns against rendering warranties useless by not complying with the conditions set out therein. “The problem lies in a lack of awareness,” he explained. “Some homeowners may think that it's as simple as 'buy a boiler and get a warranty regardless', not realising that they must comply with all the terms and conditions of the warranty agreement.”

Mr Hardy went on to point out the responsibility of the hot water and heating industry to “reinforce the warranty obligation message to the homeowner”. He also said that installers have an “important role” is helping homeowners to fully understand what measures need to be taken to ensure the validity of a boiler warranty as installers are “typically (the) first point-of-call”.
